"Beach Volleyball - learn the game on the sand"

How can theory approach the practice in beach volley? With the help of the book "Beach Volleyball-learn the game on the sand", you can introduce yourself to the methodology of this particular sport. All the rules and techniques that can help both the amateur and the experienced player are analyzed by my champion sister Efi Sfyri, through her look and personal experiences on the sand. Yes, you did not misunderstand, she is my sister. Nothing to do with me, the "unsuspecting" in sports! It is her characterization for me in the dedication of the book she gave me.

Ok, she is not wrong! Therefore, I΄ ll start workouts. You are ready to say "your sister will train you, that is fine"! Wrong! She is a very strict trainer. She is strict and perfectionist. This is an opportunity for me to hit back some adjectives. She is used to careful planning and hard work after so many championship years and she has also adopted this practice in her work.

It's a little difficult to talk objectively about your sister when you have gone through her agonies, disappointments and success. Obviously, I am talking about a heart relationship rather than a typical family one.

So, she has strengthened the beach volley theory with the practice and move from words to action. The theory can be found in her book and the action at her beach volley academy, at Vari Sports Club Beach Voley Academy; a wonderful multipurpose resort in the southern suburbs of Athens. There are bv academies for children and teenagers as well as adult sections. You can practice, participate in friendly matches and tournaments and live a non-stop summer! Moreover, keep in mind, Greece does not lack sunshine weather and endless beaches. During Summer time the tournaments take place at Yabanaki Varkiza Resort.

I΄ll also start workouts with my daughter. Nikos, my husband, has already started practice with my son and they have already participated in beach volley games. You can imagine how touching this could be for a mother (even a Greek mother!) to see her son and her husband playing together! In other words, it becomes a family affair.

Πως η θεωρία μπορεί να προσεγγίσει την πράξη στο beach volley; Μέσα από το βιβλίο «Beach Volleyball - μάθε το παιχνίδι στην άμμο» μπορείς να γνωρίσεις τη μεθοδολογία του συγκεκριμένου αθλήματος. Αναλύονται όλοι οι κανονισμοί και οι τεχνικές που μπορούν να βοηθήσουν τόσο τον ερασιτέχνη όσο και τον έμπειρο παίκτη, μέσα από τη ματιά και τις προσωπικές εμπειρίες χρόνων πάνω στην άμμο, της πρωταθλήτριας αδελφής μου ΄Εφης Σφυρή. Ναι, καλά άκουσες αδελφή μου. Καμμία σχέση με εμένα την «ανυποψίαστη» σε αθλήματα! Δικός της χαρακτηρισμός στην αφιέρωση του βιβλίου που μου έδωσε. 

Ε, δεν έχει κι άδικο! Γι΄αυτό λέω να ξεκινήσω κι εγώ προπονήσεις. Κι εσύ θα πεις τώρα «θα σε προπονεί η αδελφή σου, ωραία»! Λάθος! Στην προπόνηση είναι πολύ αυστηρή μαζί μου. Είναι αυστηρή και τελειομανής. Ευκαιρία να πετάξω κι εγώ δυο τρία επίθετα που της ταιριάζουν. Έχει μάθει στον προγραμματισμό και τη σκληρή δουλειά τόσων χρόνων πρωταθλητισμού και έχει υιοθετήσει αυτή την πρακτική και στη δουλειά της. 

Λίγο δύσκολο να μιλήσεις αντικειμενικά για την αδελφή σου όταν δίπλα της έχεις περάσει τις αγωνίες, τις απογοητεύσεις αλλά και τις επιτυχίες της. Να μιλήσεις για μία σχέση όχι απλά συγγενική αλλά σχέση καρδιάς.

Έδεσε λοιπόν τη θεωρία με την πράξη. Τη θεωρία θα τη βρεις στο βιβλίο της, την πράξη στη σχολή της, στο Vari Sports Club Beach Volley Academy. Έναν υπέροχο πολυχώρο στα νότια προαστια. Υπάρχουν BV ακαδημίες για παιδιά κι έφηβους καθώς και τμήματα για ενήλικες. Μπορείς να γυμναστείς, να συμμετέχεις σε φιλικούς αγώνες και πρωταθλήματα και να ζήσεις ένα non-stop καλοκαίρι! Εξάλλου «δεν κάνει κρύο στην Ελλάδα, κρύο δεν έκανε ποτέ!» ειδικά στα νότια προάστια. Σε μία Ελλάδα που δεν της λείπει η ηλιοφάνεια και οι ατέλειωτες παραλίες. Την καλοκαιρινή περίοδο οι αγώνες διεξαγονται στις εγκαταστάσεις του Vari Sports Club στο Yabanaki Varkiza Resort.

Ξεκινάω κι εγώ με την κόρη μου! Εχει προηγηθεί ο Νίκος, ο σύζυγος και ήδη συμμετέχει με το γιο μου σε αγώνες. Και πες μου αν δεν είναι συγκινητικό για μια μητέρα (και μάλιστα ελληνίδα μάνα!) να βλέπει να παίζουν μαζί ο γιος και ο άνδρας της! Γίνεται δηλαδή οικογενειακή υπόθεση.
