Giannitsi is a very nice beach. The truth is that the beach was not shaded by tamarisk trees (the ones found in Aliveri beaches) but we enjoyed the clear blue and crystal clear waters. Even if the region is one of the most wind-swept locations in Greece, we had the chance of enjoying the sea as the southern winds were weak that day (we saw the weather forecast first!!)
We passed by the village of “Paradisi” and visit the tavern "Mouries". The environment was wonderful but the meal portions were very small and the prices were high enough. We only enjoyed the "curcubines", the traditional pasta. Maybe, the attempt of foodie trip to flavors, failed. But the landscape and the decoration of the tavern are exceptional.
In about 30΄, we reached the southernmost point of Evia, the very picturesque harbor town of “Karystos”.
In “Amalia” square, we enjoyed our coffee under the shade of the mulberry trees and went to the port for a walk. Along the coastal road you can find taverns and cafe.
At the edge of the port, lies the well preserved coastal fortress of “Bourtzi”, built around 1350 by the Venetians.
Παραλία Γιαννίτσι , Κάρυστος
Ημερήσια εξόρμηση στη Ν. Εύβοια
Το Γιαννίτσι είναι μία πολύ ωραία παραλία. Βέβαια δεν βρήκαμε τη σκιά από τα αλμυρίκια που είχαμε στο Αλιβέρι αλλά απολαύσαμε τα καταγάλανα και πεντακάθαρα νερά. Και τα απολαύσαμε λόγω ασθενών βόρειων ανέμων. Όπως είναι γνωστό η περιοχή φημίζεται για τους δυνατούς βοριάδες αλλά προνοήσαμε, βλέποντας την πρόβλεψη για τον καιρό, να πάμε μία μέρα χωρίς αέρα!
Περάσαμε από το χωριουδάκι Παραδείσι και φάγαμε στην ταβέρνα «Μουριές». Το περιβάλλον υπέροχο, οι μερίδες πολύ μικρές και οι τιμές τσουχτερές θα λέγαμε, αφού το μόνο που απολαύσαμε ως μερίδα ήταν οι «κουρκουμπίνες», το παραδοσιακό ζυμαρικό. Η προσπάθεια για ταξίδι σε γεύσεις νομίζουμε απέτυχε. Όμως το τοπίο και η διακόσμηση του μαγαζιού εξαιρετικά.
Σε περίπου 30 ΄φθάσαμε στο νοτιότερο σημείο της Εύβοιας, την πολύ γραφική, Κάρυστο.
Στην πλατεία Αμαλίας ήπιαμε το καφεδάκι μας, κάτω από τη δροσιά που προσφέρουν οι μουριές. Συνεχίσαμε τη βόλτα στην παραλία όπου υπάρχουν πολλά ταβερνάκια και καφέ κατά μήκος του παραλιακού δρόμου.
Στην άκρη του λιμανιού το Μπούρτζι, το ενετικό φρούριο του 1350 μ.χ.
